Summertime in Island Park

Brody's favorite place to be in the whole world is Island Park... and, it's growin' on me a bit, lol.
I am so thankful that his family shares the cabin with us. It is so beautiful and peaceful up there. That is why Brody especially likes it so much. We got to go up twice as a family and once with all of my family to Blake's Uncle's cabin. Love to be with my family! There are always drama moments with the kiddos but it's all worth it.
Taylor looks like a chipmunk here, with that cheesy dirty smile :)

Oh my happiest sweet boy!
This trip is at the end of July with the whole Liljenquist clan!
Rub a dub dub, three naked girls in the tub
Not a campin trip without goin' and shootin some stuff :)
The three hour canoe/raft stroll down to Mac's Inn on the Snake.

Wahooo! Go Paden! Paden, Tyce, and Carly had fun jumpin into the water. Tay was kinda mad at me- I made her jump in, or pushed her, or somethin like that.

Hot baby right there in his waders.

Sister was being this really worried sister here- she was scared he was going to fall off. So not like her to be dramatic LOL.

We celebrated Brody's and Kayla's B-Days up at the Wilson Cabin. Happy 31st Brody!
Ahhhh, how can it get any better that this!

Wade's Welcome Home from his Mission!

In June my little brother Wade came home from serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am so proud of my little bro! We all missed him so much, but what a blessing it was to him and to our family. Every week when he would write he would have a challenge for our family. Wow, his testimony is so strong!

Mom, oh she was so anxious and excited. It was a long wait at the bottom of the elevator.

The girls found things to do though (chatting with a little old sister missionary)

Woah, got that- ya that's Wade running off the elevator. Of course he waited to be the last off the plane!

It is great to have you home Wade! Now, it's off to college- well not really "off"- he is staying at home with mom for a while. Guess at most till he gets married!
He is having a blast going to school at Weber State and just playin', dating different girls, and is just the happy, crazy, biking, daredevil fool we all know!

Un fortunately this is the only picture I took at Wade's Homecoming. We had a big yummy meal at the park with family and friends. Later Wade ran and jumped through his "welcome home" sign we made for him. I snapped the picture a split second too early but you can see his feet are off the ground and he is in mid air.

The girlies in their coordinating outfits!

Me and my best Grandpa Gary!

Wasatch Back Race

My first real race, ever! And I loved it! I seriously love to run, and was so happy to be on such a fun team that my die hard sister Andrea put together. We were the "Live and Let Run" team.

So much fun! I thought this race was going to be a lot harder than it was. Even with forgetting that I switched legs with another runner, and no knowing I had to run a 7 mile down hill, I was great. It was a blast. You recover from the soreness and the loss of a couple toenails. I will never forget this first race. We had some strong ladies and gents!
Momma just before her race up the old Snowbasin road. She rocked it of course.
We are missing one here, and our driver- Mr. Blakus Wilson.
So I have to put a plug in for a race I am organizing a team for in August next year. Epic Relays does a race from Logan to Jackson. Wow, it is going to be so amazing. I still have a spot or two left if anyone is up for this one! Andrea and I are all stoked for the races we are doing next year. I am going to do my first triathlon too! A bike is on my wish list- oh I need to add that one to my vision board! So guys or gals, let me know, it's gonna be awesome!

What's on my mind now

I AM going to update our families website here tomorrow but I had to post this tonight. I love it when I find something already written that explains what is on my mind, and says it the way I see it- while I work on my own writing skills in the meantime :)

Watch Your Language: 7 Rules for Getting What You Want (with my two cents here and there and #8)

by Christine Kane

Years ago, I was in a car with a music promoter. He had picked me up at the airport and was driving me to my hotel before my performance. On the way, we talked guitars. We got onto the subject of Olson Guitars, arguably the best guitar in the whole world. At one point, the promoter said, "Yea, well, in my entire life I'll never own an Olson guitar."

There was a time when I'd let a remark like this slide on by, even adding my own "me either" to the mix.

Now, I can't.

So, I turned to the promoter and said, "You are NOT allowed to say that!"

This is because I know the power of language. When you understand that words become things, you just can't let language slide.

Now, I have a rule I live by:

Friends don't let friends speak crappily.
(Amen! I true friend holds you accountable)

Listen up!

Your language is a powerful tool! Words create reality. Even if my promoter friend doesn't know how on earth he'd ever get his guitar, it doesn't mean he should cut off the possibility with his own words.

If you're wondering how to begin watching your words, here are 7 rules for getting what you want!

1 - Eliminate "never" and "always."

Never and always are words of hysteria. "I always mess everything up!" "I'll never figure this out!" "I'll never get an Olson Guitar."

First off, it's not true. If you always messed everything up, you wouldn't have made it out of the womb.

And second off, extreme words are designed to hook you. It's just your emotions taking a joyride. You're more powerful than that.

2 - Use AND instead of BUT.

"But" dismisses the statement before it. "And" includes it. For instance, "That's a good article, but it needs some editing" isn't nearly as encouraging as "That's a good article, AND it needs some editing."

"I love you, but..." is another great example of the dismissive power of "but."

3 - Avoid "Should."

Should is a heinous word for many reasons.

"Should" is victim-speak. It disempowers its object. It negates desires, thereby making it harder to make choices. It adds a nebulous energy to the decision-making process.

Use empowered language instead: "I could..." "I would..." "I am choosing to," "I would like to," "I don't want to," or "You might consider..."

4 - Stop calling yourself depressed.

Also stop allowing anyone to tell you that you are depressed. When you call yourself "depressed" or "obsessive compulsive" or "ADHD" or whatever - you're claiming this thing. You're calling it forth with the most powerful two words in our language: "I am." Stop claiming anything you don't want to be!

5 - Delete the word "hate" from your vocabulary.

"Hate" has lots of energy. When you use it, you send lots of energy out into the very thing you "hate." Even if it's negative energy, it's still a powerful force, adding its charge to that thing. You're also depleting this energy from your own spirit as you say it.

6 - Be "great." Or "wonderful."

A disease of the creative temperament is a belief that we must be authentic at all costs. So we can't answer a simple "How are you?" without delving into an in-depth scan of our emotional temperature.

Try this instead: When people ask you how you're doing, just say, "I'm great!"

I used to think if I said this, then I better have a darn good reason for saying it, like I just won the lottery or something. I thought it would make me look suspicious, and people would start to wonder if something was wrong with me. But then I did it.

And you know what? Most people don't care why you're great. You're saying it for YOU.

7 - Pay attention to the music of your speech.

You know how some people? They talk in question marks? And you have no idea why? But it makes you think you shouldn't really rely on them? And it makes you not want to hire them?

The music of your language says a lot about you. If you let your sentences droop like Eeyore, ("Thanks for noticing me.") or if you do the uncertain question mark language, take note of what attitudes are causing this. These patterns are created for a reason. Even if it feels like faking it at first, generate confidence as you speak.

8 - I have to add one here- Delete the word "try" from your vocabulary

"Do or do not, there is no try." ~ Master Yoda
If someone says they are going to "try" and do that, how much can you really rely on them, if at all? The word totally lacks commitment, and when you verbalize that you will try, this effects your subconscious and therefore your outcome even more. "Try" holding your arm out while saying "I'll try and keep it up" over and over while someone pushes down. Not much focus or strength right. Now hold your arm up, saying " I will" keep my arm up, and ask your friend to push your arm down.
Pretty crazy what actions you can DO when the mind can see it or feel it.

The End From the Beginning...

Here is story told by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, an LDS church leader (from April 2006 conference). The talk is called “See the End from the Beginning”. Some of our goals may be taking a bit longer than we would like, but we don’t know what unknown “dis-eases” are being healed as we work toward our goal. This story inspired me to be grateful for the challenges that come with my goals because they are making me stronger!

“Allow me to share with you an experience from my own boyhood. When I was 11 years old, my family had to leave East Germany and begin a new life in West Germany overnight. Until my father could get back into his original profession as a government employee, my parents operated a small laundry business in our little town. I became the laundry delivery boy. To be able to do that effectively, I needed a bicycle to pull the heavy laundry cart. I had always dreamed of owning a nice, sleek, shiny, sporty red bicycle. But there had never been enough money to fulfill this dream. What I got instead was a heavy, ugly, black, sturdy workhorse of a bicycle. I delivered laundry on that bike before and after school for quite a few years. Most of the time, I was not overly excited about the bike, the cart, or my job. Sometimes the cart seemed so heavy and the work so tiring that I thought my lungs would burst, and I often had to stop to catch my breath. Nevertheless, I did my part because I knew we desperately needed the income as a family, and it was my way to contribute.

“If I had only known back then what I learned many years later—if I had only been able to see the end from the beginning—I would have had a better appreciation of these experiences, and it would have made my job so much easier.

“Many years later, when I was about to be drafted into the military, I decided to volunteer instead and join the Air Force to become a pilot. I loved flying and thought being a pilot would be my thing.

“To be accepted for the program I had to pass a number of tests, including a strict physical exam. The doctors were slightly concerned by the results and did some additional medical tests. Then they announced, “You have scars on your lung which are an indication of a lung disease in your early teenage years, but obviously you are fine now.” The doctors wondered what kind of treatment I had gone through to heal the disease. Until the day of that examination I had never known that I had any kind of lung disease. Then it became clear to me that my regular exercise in fresh air as a laundry boy had been a key factor in my healing from this illness. Without the extra effort of pedaling that heavy bicycle day in and day out, pulling the laundry cart up and down the streets of our town, I might never have become a jet fighter pilot and later a 747 airline captain.

“We don’t always know the details of our future. We do not know what lies ahead. We live in a time of uncertainty. We are surrounded by challenges on all sides. Occasionally discouragement may sneak into our day; frustration may invite itself into our thinking; doubt might enter about the value of our work. In these dark moments Satan whispers in our ears that we will never be able to succeed, that the price isn’t worth the effort, and that our small part will never make a difference. He, the father of all lies, will try to prevent us from seeing the end from the beginning."

Fun with kids...

We are so thankful for these two fun kids~ they really keep us laughing everyday!

This is their first bath together

(I love the faces in this picture)
Taylor misses her cousins. This is Ellie, Kayla, and Taylor on the Wilson's tramp. It is so fun to see Taylor play with kids.

Cameron is eyein' that hair he likes to grab so much!

Oh Taylor, the drama queen. Their faces were the best just before this, with Taylor tickling Cameron and he just was a gigglin'- he is such a sweet boy :)

Taylor is so great with her little brother. Of course there is the occasional knock down when she just thinks she is being silly, and it's usually when he is getting more attention than her, but she really loves him and it makes me feel so happy to have two healthy, happy, great kids!
Brody is on day shift now at JD Machine!!! Which you probably have heard because I talk about it all the time to everyone! Well I am so thankful that he is finally on a normal schedule. He got a position as a team lead so he is really busy getting this new area going and his team, but he is very happy with it all, and I don't think even had much difficulty adjusting his schedule.
What a guy! He works so hard for us and I am very thankful for him.

Daddy is so fun to play with and wrestle with and help out around the yard!
He is so fun to snuggle and kiss, and tease too! Thank you for all you do for your family.

True this...

I am so thankful to know my Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ know and love me. I know the gospel is true... and I just feel very thankful to be blessed and to be a daughter of God. We are all daughters of God and I will be conscious of that through my actions.
